As promised in a previous post, some research has been done to cull some information regarding potential jersey retirees for the Tennessee Men's Basketball program. I have not yet looked at the SEC honorees, what follows is professional and olympic achievement.
Bernard King, whose jersey was recently retired, spent 14 years in the pros, and was selected to the All-Star game three times, twice as a first teamer.
The only Olympians were Ernie Grunfeld and Allan Houston, who both won gold, in 1976 and 2000, respectively.
Dale Ellis played in the NBA for 17 years, and was selected to one all-star game.
Ernie Grunfeld played 9 years in the pros, but was never awarded all-star status. He was inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in 1987, however this is *not* listed as a criterion of jersey retirement.
Allan Houston played 12 years in the NBA, and was selected to the All-Star game twice.
